EXPOLRING ROCKPOOLS

We love the beach and we can't resist a camping trip to the coast every year.

We love to take long walks along the sand and paddling in the water, We love the smells and warm

 sun beating down on our faces.

There are many things we love about out Great British oceans but one of our favourite things to do 

whilst at the beach is to take our net and bucket and search the wonderful world of rock pools 

Rock pooling is an age old British tradition you will always find families with a bucket and a net 

searching in between the small cracks and crevases of the rocks hunting for crabs and any other 

strange and wonderful plant life that have become trapped as the tied had retreated for the day 

The pools that have been left are a world in themselves you never know what you may find. We like 

to search for crabs and can often spend hours jumping from pool to pool searching.

Crabs are cleaver and will move very fast if they suspect you are near often hiding under rocks or 

burying themselves in the send 

But those who are persistent will reap the rewards and we must say there is something exciting about 

getting a glimpse of a big crab, and slowly creeping towards him net in hand hoping he dose not run 

and hide himself away. This is the biggest crab we have caught I'm sure many of you have caught 

much bigger, we let him go soon after as we don't like to keep them in the bucket 

There are not just crabs there are all sorts of plants and life to find, sometimes it feels like you are 

looking into an alien world 

Once we have spent some time rock pooling its time to enjoy the beauty of the coastline 

 At the end of the day we like nothing more then sitting on the sand with our fish and chips and

 watching the incredible sunsets our coastline has to offer 

SUMMER BY THE RIVER

The sun is out and the British summer is in full swing

What better way to enjoy the sun then to have a quintessentially English picnic down by the river 

its one of our favourite things to do and the best way to enjoy our beautiful countryside 

We are lucky enough to live in Warwickshire in the heart of the midlands home to Shakespeare 

our countryside is very flat with very few hills but we have some incredibly stunning locations with

 rivers cutting there way through fields surrounded by hedgerows

We adventured to a spot where we like to sit and relax, We think of it like our

own little space like a scene straight out of wind and the willows.

With the incredibly warm weather it would have been a sin not to take a picnic and a few books to read.

We sat and watched the world go by watching the wildlife go about its daily

routine. We saw beautiful blue dragonflies darting among the reeds fish swimming under the lilies

and swans gracefully swimming along in the sun.

After a long relax and a good read we headed off for a gentle stroll

After a long day in the sun and possibly a little sunburned we headed home to plan our next adventure

DEVON | HOLE STATION CAMPSITE

We have visited many campsites on our adventures some are good, some are ok but there

 is one which stands out and  in our opinion that okay yes we will say it may be one of the

 best campsites we have ever visited.

Hole station campsiste is a hidden gem surrounded by lush Devonshire forests.

it is a former railway station the ticket office now houses the owners Greg and Liz.

We immediately fell in love with everything about the campsite,

from camping in the middle of a forest surrounded by trees to the adults only rule in which 

you will not be woken up by excited children early in the morning that isn't something that 

bothers us usually but is very welcomed 

Once you have arrived down an old dirt road you are greeted by the very friendly Greg and 

his lovely dogs who will show you around the facilities. They are very eco friendly and 

everything is recycled from food waste to plastic of course we were very excited as we are 

very eco friendly ourselves and its lovely to see campsites doing the same. 

He showed us the composting toilets and their diner where they grow there own food at the 

allotment, From the start this sounded like our dream campsite.

Greg then gave us a map and lead us into the forest to choose our pitch. 

The pitches are scattered throughout the forest each with there own unique look, even the 

walk is beautiful alone and each pitch is far away from each other with its own path winding 

through the trees, and as a bonus has an outdoor kitchen shelter already set up.

You can choose to bring your own tent or use a tent the have set up themselves we used 

our own tent but it is nice to have the option.

Everything is very relaxed at the site from the sounds of birds chirping in the morning to the 

orange glows of the campfires lighting the forest at night you truly feel like you are wild 

camping. 

The toilets are a short walk from the pitches and the walk takes you through the forest. 

With hole station being a small holding they have chickens free roaming the land and dogs 

who sometimes will come to see you in the forest. 

Its the little touches that count for us when we arrive at a campsite and this campsite just

 keeps adding to them a lovely wash up area, good size showers with plenty of placed to 

pop your stuff down without it getting wet and a nice little extra a charge point where you 

can charge your electronics for free but its so not needed with the beautiful back to basics 

style of camping. Hole station campsite deserves to be recognised Greg and Liz have

 worked incredibly hard to create such a beautiful place to camp a place where  you can 

give back to nature and enjoy what it has to offer.

DEVON | THE HIDDEN PATH

We love walks especially on warm sunny days, the pair of us are always taking the path that 

looks more difficult and wondering of course but we are usually rewarded. 

We have found hidden lakes, tiny waterfalls and unusual wildlife. 

Sometimes taking the road less travelled is so worth it, even if in this case it feel like you are 

getting eaten alive by the over growth.  

Hidden pond full of insects and maybe a frog or two 

The path was over grown but the views that unfolded before us were spectacular 

The stream from this waterfall flowed past our feet as we crossed what felt like a magical stepping stone bridge 

We manged to find a different path home after we just stood transfixed on this view that we 

found by simply stopping the car at an unusual sign and following a path. 

Keep exploring and never stop searching for that view.
